PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition device miniaturizable and capable of forcibly stopping its operation when an ignition coil is abnormal. SOLUTION: An IGBT 8 controls energization/cut-off of a primary current flowing to the ignition coil 3 according to an ignition signal output from an ECU 1, to generate high voltage to the ignition coil 3. An abnormality detecting processing part 18, after detecting abnormality of the ignition coil 3, makes high the voltage of an input terminal to which the ignition signal output from the ECU 1 is input, to notify abnormality, and makes low a voltage between a gate and an emitter of the IGBT 8 to automatically and forcibly stop coil operation.
