A passenger protection (200) roll determination procedure records the transverse (10) and height (20) acceleration and uses them with further measured dynamic values including speed, yaw and pitch angles, and calculates centripetal acceleration to estimate (100) the vehicle roll angle to improve the estimate. Independent claims are included for rolll angle determination equipment using the procedure.
