PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem, wherein the manufacture of a compound element is time-consuming and miniaturization is difficult, even though the reversal of the direction (sign) of thermoelectromotive force in a thermoelement at an appropriate inverted temperature requires that at least a plurality of n-type thermoelements and p-type thermoelements be electrically connected. SOLUTION: For making nonuniform the concentration of partial elements in a compound of a thermoelement, made of a compound thermoelectric material on sections, thermoelectric materials having different directions of thermoelectromotive force are mixed and dispersed and are formed as a single element, or partial elements are evaporated by performing heat treatment, or the like, to an integral thermoelectric material, so as to obtain the concentration gradient, thus obtaining thermoelectric characteristics identical to those of the compound element by using a single thermoelement.
