<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable digital assistant and a map display system for displaying a map, which can display a map in a direction easy for a user to see when displaying, on the basis of the information recorded on a two-dimensional code, map information including the place where the two-dimensional code is located. <P>SOLUTION: A portable digital assistant 10 comprises: a two-dimensional code reading means 14 reading a two-dimensional code which is located at a specific point and on which positional information of its located point and azimuth information of the point with respect to the reading reference direction of the two-dimensional code have been recorded; a display means 18 displaying a map; a rotation angle calculating means 121; and a map rotating means 122. The two-dimensional code reading means outputs the positional information recorded on the two-dimensional code, the reading reference direction of the two-dimensional code, and azimuth information. The rotation angle calculating means calculates the rotation angle based on the reading reference direction of the two-dimensional code and the azimuth information.
