A MONORAIL RAPID TRANSIT SYSTEM

A monorail rapid transit system which includes a monorail track formed of rails (11) in the form of I-sectioned beams and vehicles or cars (10) which straddle the rails (11) and which have bogies (13) at each end, at least one of which is steerable and which include wheels (37) which are supported on and run along the upper flanges (62) of the rails (11). Stabilising wheels (60) are provided on opposite sides of the rails (11) to stabilise the vehicles or cars (10). Drive motors (55) are provided to drive the wheels (37) of the bogies (13) with power for the drive motor (55) being obtained from power supply rails (65) running along the track.
