PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disposable diaper having a superior leakage prevention property. SOLUTION: This disposable diaper 1 is provided with a liquid-permeable surface sheet 2, a rear face sheet 3 and an absorber 4 disposed between the both sheets, and has a back side part, an abdominal side part and a crotch part, wherein the surface sheet 2 has a central area 2c disposed at the crotch part and end portion areas 2a and 2b disposed at the abdominal side part and the back side part, the central area 2c and the end portion areas 2a and 2b are formed with multiple projections 21 on their skin contact faces respectively with their dispersed state in the longitudinal and width directions of the diaper, and the surface sheet 2 has an apparent thickness in the end portion areas 2a and 2b thicker than the apparent thickness in the central area 2c.
