PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately measure a burst interval even if the traveling speed of a magnetic tape is changing. SOLUTION: A burst interval measuring device comprises: servo read heads 21a, 21b for outputting a detection signal for measuring a burst interval in a servo pattern Ps for tracking servo written along the longitudinal direction of the magnetic tape 301; and a measurement section for measuring the burst interval based on the detection signal. The servo read heads 21a, 21b are configured to output a detection signal for measuring a burst interval for a plurality of locations separated one another along the width direction of the magnetic tape 301 in one servo pattern Ps. The measurement section specifies change in the travelling speed of the magnetic tape 301 along the longitudinal direction by the measurement value of the burst interval for two or more locations in respective locations measured based on the detection signal, and corrects the measurement value based on the speed change.
