<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus adopting a toner cartridge supply type, which is capable of preventing image defects after new toner is supplied, without being affected by residual toner. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus including a photoreceptor drum 41, an electrifier 42, a developing unit 44, a transfer unit 46 and a cleaning member 45 includes a control section 71 for forcibly executing development, in such a state that the potential difference between a developing bias potential and a photoreceptor potential is larger than the potential difference in a normal driving state, when it is detected that the residual amount of the toner stored in the developing unit is smaller than a predetermined value by a residual toner detecting sensor 445 and the control section is configured so as to emit a signal by which the toner can be supplied, after the toner adhering to the photoreceptor drum by the forcible development execution is recovered by the cleaning member. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
