<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric steering lock device which can lock a steering shaft at an arbitrary rotation position. <P>SOLUTION: This electric steering lock device 10 restricts the turning operation of a steering shaft 2. The electric steering lock device 10 has a sleeve 16 which is fitted on the outer peripheral section of the steering shaft 2 in a manner to be movable in the axial direction and unrotatable, and has a thread on the outer peripheral surface, a first gear 20 which is turned by an electric motor 26 and is screwed with the outer peripheral surface of the sleeve 16, and a second gear 28 which is screwed with the outer peripheral surface of the sleeve 16.
