PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device that mitigates impacts of dropping even when the device drops, and can be improved in reliability. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device 10 comprises: a backlight unit having a light source k; a control unit Y controlling images; a back plate 2 where the control unit Y and the backlight unit are held; a liquid crystal panel 7 having a liquid crystal layer held between a pair of substrates and having a pair of polarizing plates holding the pair of substrates therebetween; and a protective plate 1 disposed in the opposite side of the liquid crystal panel 7 to the side where the backlight unit is disposed. The device is constituted by merging a front unit which integrates the protective plate 1 and the liquid crystal panel 7 and a back unit which integrates the backlight unit, the control unit Y and the back plate 2.
