PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotating center which automatically monitors whether the rotating center supporting the end of a workpiece is normally attached to the workpiece, by an air pressure introduced through the rear portion of the rotating center, during unattended operation in machining the workpiece using an NC lathe or the like. SOLUTION: In the rotating center 1, a main rotary shaft 3 with a through-hole 8 bored in the longitudinal direction is inserted into a tapered case 4 and is rotatably supported via bearings 5, 6, 6. A seal body 9 mounted on the main rotary shaft 3 receives an air pressure so as to be tightly attached on the vertical surface 13 provided to the inner surface of the tapered case 4, and the air shut off in the cirrcumference of the main rotary shaft 3 is discharged from the through-hole 8.
