<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical head device preventing the performance of an objective lens from deteriorating even without strictly controlling the amount of an adhesive to be applied, and bonding and fixing a protective member to a lens holder. <P>SOLUTION: The optical head device has a lens holder 80 for holding the objective lens, and the protective member 82 for preventing the objective lens and an optical recording medium from being damaged by mutual contact. The protective member 82 has a projection 82a bonded and fixed to the lens holder 80.
