PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an FTP (file transfer protocol) type processor with an FTP server mounted thereon, which informs a host device of a connected state of a storage medium connected to a medium connecting part of a processor in a user-friendly manner without extending a protocol. SOLUTION: A status-reflecting directory name including the status of the storage medium connected to the medium connecting part installed in the FTP type processor is determined according to a command by FTP communication from the host device through a network, and information showing the presence of a directory having the determined status-reflecting directory name is transmitted to the host device.
