<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively and easily provide a phosphor that exhibits high-luminance luminescence of a plurality of colors and has slight variation of life. <P>SOLUTION: The phosphor is prepared by mixing a base material represented by the formula M<SP>II</SP>M<SB>2</SB><SP>III</SP>S<SB>4</SB>, wherein M<SP>II</SP>is any of Mg (magnesium), Ca (calcium), Sr (strontium), Ba (barium) and Zn (zinc) or their combination, and M<SP>III</SP>is any of Ga (gallium) and In (indium) or their combination with Mn (manganese), Al (aluminum) and an additive element R, wherein the additive element R is at least one element of the group IIIa of the Periodic table and emits the luminescence of a plurality of colors when excited. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
