PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane separation method which solves the problems associated with pore diffusion, including that (1) the amount of solution treated is not reduced; (2) the concentration of a target substance recovered from the diffused solution is low; and (3) the membrane permeation rate of the substance is small, and retains the characteristics of pore diffusion membrane separation. SOLUTION: The pore diffusion and filtration separation method is one in which the mass transfer by filtration is added to pore diffusion membrane separation under such a condition that the diffusion rate in pores of fine particles having particle sizes equal to the average pore diameter of the membrane to be used in pore diffusion membrane separation is higher than the membrane permeation rate of the fine particles by filtration.
