The light source has LED (12) provided at a predetermined position on a light guide (3). The light guide has a reflecting surface to reflect the light and to radiate in a direction orthogonal to the optical axis of the light source. The guide has a light radiating surface to radiate the direct light from LED and the reflected light from the reflecting surface to the exterior. An independent claim is also included for rear view mirror apparatus.
