PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of stably developing a planographic plate having a silicone rubber layer in an automatic developing machine. SOLUTION: In the method of developing a planographic plate having a silicone rubber layer by rubbing the silicone rubber layer with a brush roll while carrying the planographic plate having the silicone rubber layer by a carrying roll by use of an automatic developing machine having a pretreatment step part, a developing step part, and an aftertreatment step part, the brush roll is reciprocated in rotating and/or roll directions to physically remove the silicone rubber layer in an image part, and the chaff of the silicone rubber layer following the carrying roll is finely pulverized by a rider roll provided on the downstream side of the brush roll to contact with the carrying roll.
