PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To demolish a tower structure such as a stack at a low cost without height limitation while alleviating a burden on workers. SOLUTION: According to the method, four masts which are each obtained by connecting mast members 21 together in a lengthwise direction and almost the same in height as the tower structure 10, are erected around the tower structure 10, and scaffolds 22 are attached to the respective masts, to thereby set up four sets of ascendable/descendable scaffolds each consisting of the scaffold 22 and the mast. Demolition of the tower structure 10 is carried out by the workers on the ascendable/descendable scaffolds 20. Herein the scaffolds 22 of the respective ascendable/descendable scaffolds 20A to 20C out of the ascendable/descendable scaffolds 20 are for use as scaffolds on which the workers stand when the tower structure 10 is demolished, while the scaffold 22 of the ascendable/descendable scaffold 20D is applied to an elevator when the workers move between the scaffolds 22 of the ascendable/descendable scaffolds 20A to 20C and the ground.
