PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a possibility of the occurrence of time-out at the last moment of the completion of processing. SOLUTION: This client device 1 extends a time-out time when it is determined that processing is not completed within the time-out time after issuing a processing request to a server device 2. The client device 1 transmits time-out time information to the server device together with a processing request, determines that the processing is not completed within the time-out time upon receipt of a time-out time extension request from the server device 2, and extends the time-out time. On the other hand, the server device 2 receives the processing request and the time-out time information from the client device 1, and transmits the time-out time extension request to the client device 1 when the processing has not been completed yet after the lapse of a reference processing time based on the time-out time information.
