PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intravascular situation observation apparatus which can give an image of a blood-free intravascular tissue. SOLUTION: The intravascular situation observation apparatus comprises a light source 2, a catheter 1, a detector 5, a signal processor 6, and an image display 7, wherein the light source 2 produces a coherent light. The catheter 1 irradiates an intravascular observation subject with the coherent light from the light source 2, and the detector 5 detects an interference light which is generated by one intravascularly reflected and scattered coherent light and another coherent light from the light source 2, thereby converting the interference light into an electric signal. The signal processor 6 processes the electric signal outputted from the detector to extract a Doppler effect-free second signal component apart from a Doppler effect-influenced first signal component, and the image display 7 displays an image from the second signal component extracted by the signal processor to display an image.
