PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely and reliably determine a life of a component for structuring an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus, which forms an image on a medium in accordance with a set output condition and outputs the medium, includes an operation display part for setting the output condition, a plurality of mechanisms for forming an image, a timer for measuring an operation time of the mechanism in forming the image, a storage part for storing the life of the component which is previously set, and a control part for calculating the operation time of the component for structuring the mechanism based on the measured operation time of the mechanism and the output condition, and determining that the image forming apparatus reaches an end of its life when the accumulation of the operation time of the component reaches an end of the set life of the component.
