In particular for the purpose of testing features of a security architecture, the invention proposes a method for simulating anomalous operation within a computer network with multiple network elements (110, 120, 130, 140, 210, 220, 230, 240, 310, 320, 330, 400) which for the purpose of data communication are interconnected, comprising the steps of providing for each of said network elements a corresponding data processing node (110a, 120a, 130a, 140a, 210a, 220a, 230a, 240a, 310a, 320a, 330a, 400a) representing the respective network element, wherein said data processing nodes are adapted to exchange data with each other, and generating data traffic by at least a subset of said data processing nodes (110a, 120a, 130a, 140a, 400a), wherein at least one (400a) of said data processing nodes generates anomalous data traffic. The invention further proposes a system for performing the inventive method and a digital storage medium comprising electronically readable control instructions adapted to perform the inventive method. |
