RUBBER COMPOSITION AND PNEUMATIC TIRE COMPRISING THE SAME

The object is to provide a pneumatic tire improved in comprehensive properties including wet grip properties, rolling resistance, wear resistance and controllability/stability, by improving the processability of a rubber composition having a silica filled therein and using the rubber composition in a tread part of the tire. Disclosed is a rubber composition comprising: 100 parts by mass of a rubber component; 15 to 150 parts by mass of a silica; and a silane coupling agent having a binding unit (1) represented by the formula (1) and a binding unit (2) represented by the formula (2) in its molecular structure in an amount of 1 to 20% by mass relative to the amount of the silica contained in the rubber composition. Formula (1) Formula (2) wherein x represents a percentage by mole of the binding unit (1) contained in the silane coupling agent and y represents a percentage by mole of the binding unit (2) contained in the silane coupling agent, provided that the sum total of x and y is 100 and y is more than 1 and less than 70; and R1 and R2 independently represents a hydrogen, a hydroxy group, a halogen element, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkenyl group or a thiol group.
