PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface treatment method capable of forming a film having the high strength at high temperature. SOLUTION: A first film 1 is formed on a surface of a workpiece 2 by generating the discharge between a discharge electrode and the workpiece 2 by applying the voltage between the discharge electrode formed by using a precipitation-hardened alloy material and the workpiece 2 in a working oil. After carbon on the surface of the first film 1 is removed by the ion etching, the film is subjected to the annealing, and then, subjected to the heat treatment for the precipitation hardening to obtain a second film. Thus, the carbon present on the surface of the first film 1 prevents degradation of the strength and embrittlement of the first film 1 by the precipitation of carbide with Cr and Fe, and the second film with the high strength by the precipitation hardening can be obtained.
