<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of improving he display quality and shortening the production time. <P>SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device, a light shielding layer 111 is formed within a through hole 107, and spacers 10 are placed on the light shielding layer 111. Thus, the spacers 10 is allowed to have a smaller diameter to prevent the trouble that spacers are not discharged from a nozzle, for example, when using an ink jet method.
