PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the occurrence of flaws in the end face of a ring-shaped glass substrate for magnetic recording medium. SOLUTION: In a manufacturing method of the ring-shaped glass substrate for magnetic recording medium, an end face is formed by etching when machining a glass material plate into the glass substrate 11 on a disk, thus obtaining the glass substrate for magnetic recording medium without any flaws on an outer-periphery end face 13 and an inner-periphery end face 14.
