PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water heater capable of notifying a user of need of maintenance and releasing the notification. SOLUTION: A notification mode flag is read out from EEPROM at a timing of starting hot water supply, and notification is started (S19) by LED flashing by transferring to a notification mode, when the notification mode flag is "ON" (S13: YES). In a case when a gas cock is closed during the hot water supply, the flame of a main burner accidentally fires, and the accidental fire is detected by a flame rod (S21: YES), "OFF" is once stored in the notification mode flag (S29), and LED flashing form is changed (S31). The notification mode is released (S33: YES), when a battery is demounted during a period of this flashing form, and the power supply is stopped.
