The present invention relates to a novel alkali protease of the subtilisin type made from Bacillus pumilus and sufficiently related proteins and the derivatives thereof. The invention further relates to washing agents and detergents comprising said novel alkali protease of the subtilisin type, sufficiently related proteins and the derivatives thereof, a respective washing and cleaning method, and the use thereof in washing agents and detergents.
