A building management system for controlling several actuators that are disposed in a distributed manner is disclosed. The building management system is composed of a central control unit (2) and at least one actuator (10) that is triggered by the central control unit (2). The actuator (10) is provided with a control device (11) which is configured to receive control commands from the central control unit (2) and operate the actuator (10) in accordance with the control commands, and a memory part (13) for storing functionally relevant data. The memory part (13) is or can be separated from the control device (11) and is constituted by an exchangeable memory element. The actuator or the control device has an insertion for the exchangeable memory element.
