PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of maintaining good fixation corresponding to an image even when a plurality of colors of toner are overlapped, while reducing power consumption in a fixing means. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an image processing circuit 10 generating image data; a fixing part 40 having a fixing roller 40a and a pressure roller 40b; and a heat quantity control part 39 having a data integration circuit 41, a central processing circuit 42 and a heater driving circuit 43. A pixel overlap detection circuit 45 in the data integration circuit 41 detects the overlap of pixels of a plurality of colors in the image data generated in the image processing circuit 10. An arithmetic operation circuit 46 corrects the amount of the image data at a predetermined ratio when the overlap of pixels of a plurality of colors is detected. The central processing circuit 42 sets the fixing temperature in the fixing part 40 according to the amount of integrated image data and controls the fixing part 40 so that fixing is carried out at the fixing temperature.
