<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an immunomodulator using β-glucan of which the excellent regulation function of a living body and the excellent bioactive function are noted recently, having high solubility in water, and having nonconventional excellent immunomodulating activity, and to provide a food and drink and an external preparation for the skin, containing the immunomodulator. <P>SOLUTION: The immunomodulator contains β-1,3-1,4-D-glucan having 500-9,000 mass-averaged molecular weight as an active ingredient.
