PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage device and a storage control circuit which can appropriately perform recording and reproduction by suppressing reduction of an error rate to the minimum, even in a reduced pressure environment where atmospheric pressure is low. SOLUTION: An atmosphere pressure monitoring part 52 discriminates whether the environment is the one in which the atmospheric pressure is reduced or not according to the drive current of a spindle motor 16, and, when a write command is received from a host 11 in a state that it is discriminated as the environment where the atmospheric pressure is reduced, it executes write-verify for determining presence/no presence of an error by reading data immediately after data are written into a storage medium. When the error is determined by execution of a write-verify mode, the monitoring part 52 executes the write-verify mode until the error is not determined while changing a heater control value by a fixed amount so as to increase clearance.
