PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively utilize an unused spare area. SOLUTION: A table is formed for assigning a physical address of spare areas following the last logical address of a user data recording area, and recording/reproducing is performed by using the table. The physical address of the unused spare area is assigned following the last logical address of the user data recording area.
