PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to reduce risk of seizure while restraining flickering or the like from being generated in accompaniment to switching of polarity, in a drive unit for a liquid crystal display or the like. SOLUTION: This drive unit is provided with a signal supply means (110) capable of reversing the polarity of an image signal in a frame unit, and for supplying the image signals sequentially in the frame unit, an extraction means (120) for extracting an index value serving as an index for a brightness of the image signal in the frame unit, a counting means (130) for counting the frequency when a difference between the extracted index values of two frames adjacent each other out of the frames reaches the first threshold value, as an integrated value, and a control means (140) for controlling the signal supply means not to reverse the polarity, when the integrated value reaches the second threshold value.
