PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a laser treated fabric stabilized in quality without necessity for preparing yarns different in shrinkage factor, labor for designing a woven or knitted structure according to kinds of yarns, or necessity for preparing a mold. SOLUTION: A laser beam 18 is applied to the surface of a fabric 16 constituted by using multi-fiber yarns (13, 14) composed of multiple fibers containing a thermoplastic synthetic fiber 11 as a main material. Thereby, adjacent fibers 11a and 11a on an exposure face 12 of a multi-fiber yarn exposed on a fabric surface are fused to each other without heating and melting fibers 11b and 11b in the interior of the fabric. In the production of laser treated fabric, when beam diameter of laser beam which is incident on an irradiation lens 17 of a laser beam irradiation apparatus for the fabric surface is defined as D, focal distance of the irradiation lens is defined as f, and wavelength of laser beam is defined asλ, beam spot diameter (d) of laser beam is set so as to satisfy the formula: d=1.27fλ/D and irradiation beam diameter d<SB>n</SB>of laser beam on the fabric surface is set so as to satisfy the relation: [(4D+d)/5≥d<SB>n</SB>≥(D+4d)/5].
