Tricyclic imidazopyridines and intermediates for the synthesis thereof

Disclosed is a tricyclic imidazopyridine compound of formulae (I) or (II), and salts thereof, with subtituents as disclosed in the specification. Also disclosed is the suitability of the above compound for treating and preventing gastrointestinal disorders. Also disclosed are processes for the synthesis of these compounds.
