A method is disclosed for generating a radar image to be displayed by a radar system 10, the method comprising, receiving range and azimuth data from a radar signal transmitted from a radar antenna 12, the range and azimuth data representing the radar image as a plurality of azimuth segments that collectively form the radar image in a polar coordinate system; translating the range and azimuth data into abscissa and ordinate data representing the radar image in a Cartesian coordinate system; filtering noise from the radar image by utilizing a signal reflected by a target from at least two immediately adjacent azimuth segments, and selecting a highest pixel value from a plurality of different pixel values assigned to be displayed by a common pixel of the radar display to render the representation of the target to be included as a portion of the radar image to be displayed; and generating the radar image including the target to be displayed by a display screen to an operator. |
