An apparatus and a method for controlling output of audio in a mobile communication terminal are provided to enable a user to exactly recognize a predetermined area of a touch screen aurally. A touch screen(12) is divided to a plurality of partial areas. If a partial area is touched among divided partial areas, a control unit(11) outputs a control signal corresponding to touch. An audio output unit(16) outputs audio of original sound assigned to the touched partial area or audio notifying an original menu item displayed on the partial area according to the control signal. The entire area of the touch screen is divided into a plurality of partial areas. Audio of the original sound source is assigned to each partial area. If at least two partial areas are continuously touched among the divided partial areas, the control unit continuously outputs a control signal corresponding to the continuous touch.
