<p>Preparing organophosphorus compound (I), comprises (a) esterifying phosphorus trihalide compound (III) with O-phenyl phenol compound (IV), (b) cyclizing the product obtained from the step (a) with a catalyst and subsequently hydrolyzing the product obtained from step (b), where the process is carried out continuously and takes place under an inert gas. Preparing organophosphorus compound of formula (I), comprises (a) esterifying phosphorus trihalide compound of formula (P(X) 3) (III) with O-phenyl phenol compound of formula (IV), (b) cyclizing the product obtained from the step (a) with a catalyst and subsequently hydrolyzing the product obtained from step (b), where the process is carried out continuously and takes place under an inert gas. Either Y 1>, Y 2>H (preferred), halo, 1-18C-alkyl, 1-18C-alkoxy, aryl, aryloxy, acyl, nitro, CN or sulfonic acid group; or Y 1>Y 2>+biphenyl ring : a phenanthrene ring; and X : halo.
