A system and a method for processing an ultrasonic image are provided to obtain an improved filtering result by reducing a moving estimation error. A region separation part(151) separates an ultrasonic image signal of a subject into a consistent region and a homogeneous region. A movement estimation part(153) estimates a local movement and a global movement about the consistent region. A local movement compensation filtering part(155) performs a filtering about the consistent region based on the local movement estimated by the movement estimation part. A global movement compensation filtering part(157) performs a filtering about the homogeneous region based on the global movement estimated by the movement estimation part. An image merging part(159) merges an output image of the local movement compensation filtering part and an output image of the global movement compensation filtering part.
