The body 3 of a spraying device has a stepped cylindrical chamber 4a, 4b leading to a discharge tube 10, and liquid is supplied to the part 4b through a port 7 and air is fed to the part 4a through a port 6. A stepped piston 11a, 11b slides within the chamber and is normally urged forwardly by a spring 12 to cut off the liquid supply through the port 7. When air under pressure is fed through the port 6, the piston is forced rearwardly thereby against the spring 12 to uncover the liquid inlet port, and the air flowing through a passage 13 of the piston via an inlet 15, draws liquid into the chamber and sprays it from the tube 10. Needle valves 9 and 16 control the liquid and air flow respectively. In the construction of Fig. 2, for extinguishing fires, the needle valves and discharge tube are omitted, and a stepped cylindrical block 17 is located in front of the outlet. |
