746,216. Crimping fibres. INVENTA AKT.- GES. FUR FORSCHUNG UND PATENTVERWERTUNG. May 28, 1954 [June 27, 1953], No. 15879/54. Class 120 (3). In crimping synthetic filaments by feeding a tow or cable thereof into a chamber which is kept filled with filaments under pressure, the tow, with a moisture content of at least 5 per cent, is fed into the chamber at a speed of at least 100 m./min. The heat generated by the rapid folding of the filaments raises the temperature of the filaments sufficiently to set the crimps and evaporate the water, to which wetting agents may have been added, carried by the filaments. |
