An apparatus and a method for providing gas station information are provided to give a fuel shortage message with the gas station information on a driving route to a driver by using a navigation terminal for a vehicle. The information corresponding to the remainder fuel amount of a vehicle, a driving speed and fuel efficiency is transmitted through the interface with an electronic control unit in real time(S11). If the remainder fuel amount is less than a preset reference fuel amount(S12), the estimated fuel amount to the destination is calculated by referring to the driving speed, the fuel efficiency, and the moving distance to the destination(S13). If the lack of fuel is determined(S14), the final gas station information within the route using the remainder fuel amount maximally is searched(S15). A position and a name of the final gas station is stored in a memory and a distance from the current position of the vehicle to the final gas station is calculated through a GPS module(S16). If the distance is within a reference separation distance(S17). An arrow to represent the final gas station is displayed on a map image displayed by an OSD generator(S18). A message to alarm the final gas station on the map image is displayed and the sound is outputted(S19). |
