An apparatus for heating water or other fluid has a plurality of heating elements comprising microwave susceptible material 17 and microwave generator means 18 arranged to generate microwave radiation and to apply substantially all of said generated radiation to said microwave susceptible material. The microwave generator means may comprise a plurality of individual microwave generators, for example to provide various outputs from the heating apparatus. Waveguide 11 has deflecting surfaces 10 to direct microwaves to respective susceptors 17. |
