The method involves calculating an amplitude value of a pulsed sinusoidal signal that is delivered by a sensor e.g. air pressure sensor (P1), for a pulsed sinusoidal signal period using an electronic control unit (10) of an internal combustion heat engine (1) i.e. supercharged diesel engine. The calculated amplitude value is compared with a threshold value for diagnosing an operation state of the sensor. The sensor is considered as a defective sensor if the amplitude value of the signal is lesser than the threshold value. An independent claim is also included for a sensor's operation state diagnosing device comprising an electronic control unit.
