In the existing consumed power control technique, any conversion treatment is always applied, on the basis of a consumed power value estimated, to a video signal (of a gradation value). Proposed is a consumed power control device comprising (a) a consumed power calculating unit for sequentially calculating, on the basis of a video signal inputted from the head of each frame to the time point of calculation, an electric power to be consumed in a self-emitting display device, (b) a consumed power state deciding unit for always comparing the consumed power value calculated and a comparison reference value, to decide whether or not the consumed power value exceeds the comparison reference value, and for detecting the timing of the consumed power value, in case this power value exceeds the comparison reference value, and (c) a peak brightness control unit for controlling the peak brightness of the self-emitting display device on the basis of that detection timing, in case the consumed power value exceeds the comparison reference value. |
