PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation method and a system for controlling an electrohydraulic valve capable of detecting and processing an error in operation of an internal combustion engine having an EHVS. SOLUTION: In this operation method for controlling the electrohydraulic valve of the internal combustion engine, electrohydrailic valve control includes at least one gas exchange valve operation device 30 and a gas exchange valve 1 hydraulically operable thereby. In the operation of the internal combustion engine, when operating the gas exchange valve 1, an operation characteristic of the gas exchange valve operation device 30 is measured, and is also compared with a reference operation characteristic of expressing a target characteristic of the gas exchange valve operation device 30.
