The paper sheet handling machine (1) has a housing (92) and accumulation units (30, 40). The accumulation units (30, 40) have, inside them, receiving spaces (30p, 40p) for receiving paper sheets introduced from the outside and also have, in their side faces, openings out of which the paper sheets received in the receiving spaces (30p, 40p) are taken. The accumulation units (30, 40) are detachably installed in the housing (92).
