PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom microscope having a laser scanning confocal optical system capable of operating in linkage with a zoom observation optical system. SOLUTION: The zoom microscope includes: the zoom observation optical system 10 including an objective lens 11, an aperture diaphragm 12, an afocal zoom system 13, and an image-forming optical system 14 in order from the side of a sample 41; an optical path division element M1 disposed between the objective lens and the aperture diaphragm; and a laser scanning confocal optical system 20 which is disposed on an optical path divided from an optical path of the zoom observation optical system by the optical path division element and includes a variable aperture diaphragm AS. The zoom microscope further includes a control means 33 which causes the power varying operation of the afocal zoom system and the operation for a diameter of the variable aperture diaphragm to be performed in linkage with each other and changes a scan area of the laser scanning confocal optical system in linkage with the change in observation visual field of the zoom observation optical system accompanying the power varying operation of the afocal zoom system.
