PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotaxane having a new structure and a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The first embodiment of the present rotaxane is a rotaxane 10 in which the chain part of an axial component 2 having a chain molecular structure 3 passes through the molecular ring of a ring component 1, wherein the ring component 1 is a cyclic polyether derivative, a cyclic polysulfide derivative, a cyclic polyetheramine derivative or a cyclic polyamine derivative and contains a tertiary ammonium salt in the chain part of the axial component 2. The second embodiment of the present rotaxane is a rotaxane in which the chain part of an axial component 2 having a chain molecular structure 3 passes through the molecular ring of a ring component 1, wherein the ring component 1 is a cyclic polyether derivative, a cyclic polysulfide derivative, a cyclic polyetheramine derivative or a cyclic polyamine derivative and contains a tertiary amine in the chain part of the axial component.
